General Purpose
A receiving clerk is responsible for accepting, checking and processing deliveries to a warehouse or factory
Duties and Responsibilities
- direct delivery drivers to the the correct unloading station
- receive and sign for deliveries
- check deliveries against orders, invoices, manifests and other documents to verify correctness
- record and report overages, shortages and discrepancies
- liaise with shippers to rectify problems with deliveries
- inspect the condition and quality of delivered items
- record and reject damaged items
- process returns of damaged items
- prepare and keep records of good received
- complete daily receiving entries into computer system
- store stock in an orderly manner in appropriate locations
- assure proper storage conditions
- correctly route items to relevant departments and process inter-company transfers
- organize stock and maintain inventory
- conduct regular cycle counts
- liaise with purchasing and operations with regard to stock levels
- comply with standard safety and operating procedures
Education and Experience
- High school diploma
- working knowledge of MS Office including Excel
- data entry skills
- knowledge of warehouse operations and procedures including Warehouse Management Systems
- proficient with electronic scanning equipment
- may be required to operate warehouse equipment such as a forklift
